What are the projects of ZCDC? The initial project of ZCDC is the Texas Pie Kitchen (TPK) small business. The TPK will employ and train low-income people with barriers to employment, including lack of education and criminal histories. TPK plans to open a storefront in a low-income neighborhood, employing and training those from the surrounding community. Future planned projects of ZCDC include a Mentor for Self-Sufficiency Program, which will match economically stable and self-sufficient adults with low-income adults that are struggling financially; and a Young Filmmaker's Project aimed at middle school students in the neighborhood in which the Texas Pie Kitchen is located that will teach students the basics of filmmaking while also matching them with an adult mentor. |
